Music welcomes Sustainability - Inside The New Taylor Guitars Urban Wood Initiative
In recent years, the exotic tonewoods that luthiers have used for decades have become more complicated to source in part due to increasing environmental legislation. Someday soon, some select woods may not be available in quantities needed for mass production of instruments. That’s why a recent innovation by Taylor Guitars, the use of urban wood– wood sourced from trees found in cities rather than from the typical industrial suppliers or the tropics– is so important. It is notable not only to the musicians who will play and enjoy the instruments, but also to those who care about protecting the ecosystem that we all share. To prove a point, Taylor Guitars has stepped away from the crowd and is adding a line of high-end guitars built with urban wood....
The search for a new wireless casting and collaboration solution for the university began in 2019 when a team of JCU’s ICT (Information and Communications Technology) staff at the Singapore campus were introduced to the benets of ScreenBeam technology at the Dell Technologies Executive Brieng & Solution Center. The Dell Technologies team, trusted partners of the university for over a decade, demonstrated new approaches to wireless presentation and collaboration using Dell Large Format Displays coupled with ScreenBeam 1100 Plus wireless receivers. Convinced of the benets of a more modern and exible screen-sharing solution for both teaching staff and students, Vinay Peddiraju and Louie Soriano, Assistant Managers of ICT at the university, worked with Dell Technologies to develop the following criteria for the new system...
Jackson's American Series Soloist - A guitar built for speed and metal that offers more than you might expect.
Given the chance to check out Jackson Guitars’ most recent additions to its American Soloist series, the SL2 DX, I could hardly pass it up. After all, Jackson was first to embrace the high-velocity and fierce driving styles employed by electric guitarists in the early hard rock scene, and helped launch metal into the mainstream. Even 40 years out from the small Charvel repair shop that started it all, the company has a black-nailed finger on the pulse of today's metal players and the style’s ever-growing number of subgenres. As metal guitars go, its specs are spot-on: a Superstrat design with a familiar pair of well-respected Seymour Duncan pickups, 24 jumbo stainless-steel frets, and a three-piece maple neck with neck-through-body construction. In addition, my review model — the SL2 DX HT — features a Hipshot hardtail bridge...
Forward-looking companies like Intuit, the maker of QuickBooks, TurboTax and Mint, continue to be committed to improving the videoconferencing experience. However, to reap the benefits that this powerful collaborative catalyst offers, companies must commit themselves to implementing videoconferencing systems that are at once available, reliable and easy to use. Videoconferencing Teamwork With a global workforce of more than 9,000 employees—a number that increases during various peaks throughout the year due to the seasonality of parts of its business—Intuit prioritizes bringing workers, leaders and business partners closer together. Buñales revealed, “We currently support videoconferencing across 19 global locations, including Australia, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, France, India and Israel"...
Rockefeller University: New Architectural and AV Designs to Advance Biomedical Research
The Anna-Maria & Stephen Kellen BioLink, a low pavillion also known as the Interactive Conference Center (ICC), encompasses 4,400 square feet of light-filled, flexible meeting space in which Rockefeller scientists can share their expertise and discoveries with each other and with the world.
In addition to functioning as an ideal space for faculty, postdoctoral fellows and graduate students to exchange scientific findings, the BioLink is a physical reminder of Rockefeller’s critically important connections to the world’s scientific community. It is the university’s hope that the space becomes a hub for outreach to science teachers, science-policy experts and other thought leaders. The university also believes the newly designed space will be the ideal setting for meetings between leaders of New York’s growing biotech community and Rockefeller investigators who are working to translate their discoveries into therapies.
The AV design for Rockefeller University’s new ICC employs large 120-inch LCD displays. The monitor size was both an aesthetic choice to match the bold design of the space and a practical one to support the BioLink's use as one large conference area or as three independent conference rooms...
Images and concise writing work together to enhance understanding by creating vivid mental pictures for the reader. This makes any content more engaging and memorable. Good images serve to evoke emotions, convey complex ideas quickly, and make abstract concepts more concrete by engaging the senses of sight, sound, smell, touch, and taste. In technical writing, they clarify instructions and reinforce information, while in creative writing, they "show, don't tell" emotions and actions, leading to a more immersive experience.
